Livestock Fitting & Clipping Seminar

Pro Feeds and the Regional Extension Service invited all 4-Hers in Southeastern Minnesota to attend a fitting and clipping seminar.

When: Saturday, March 14, 2009 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Progress Update: May 12, 2008

As most of you are aware, Greenway Coop and Farm Country Coop combined our feed departments on March 31, 2008 to form a new entity called Pro Feeds LLC. The purpose of this letter is to update you on the progress made during this transition period. We have been in operation approximately 6 weeks and overall we think things have gone fairly smooth.

The crew from Janesville Elevator Construction Company has completed the installation of a new high speed feed mixer and a micro ingredient batching system. They are now working on the new surge bins that will feed the new roller mill to increase corn-rolling capacity. The approximate completion date is mid June. Upon completion of the updates to the mill, all outside milling will be brought back to our Pine Island location.

From the accounting side, we purchased new software for feed formulation and automation within the feed mill. This has been a learning curve for all personnel involved in Pro Feeds. The next step will be the automation of a batching system to work with the new mill equipment. This will enable us to process more tons per day through our facility.

We have found varied services fees between our two companies. Our goal is to standardize the charges for these services as our venture progresses. Due to the continual increase in diesel fuel prices, delivery prices for both bulk and bag delivery will increase effective June 1, 2008. The new rates will be as follows:

Bulk Delivery:
Within 20 miles $47.00 per load
20 to 40 miles $75.00 per load
Over 40 miles add $3.50 per loaded mile

Bag Delivery:
Within 20 miles $55.00 per load
20 - 30 miles $65.00 per load
30 - 40 miles $75.00 per load
Over 40 miles add $3.50 per loaded mile

As we begin to manufacture all the feed at our Pine Island location, it is imperative we have advance notice for your milling needs. When manufacturing for several different species, we have to follow protocols for flushing of equipment to prevent cross contamination issues. All feed needs to be ordered prior to noon for the next day delivery. With advance notice we can sequence our loads for more efficient manufacturing and delivery. We will try to accommodate to the best of our ability, but cannot guarantee, those that need same day delivery. An additional charge of $50.00 per load will be billed to all same day delivery loads.
